Welcome to Downtown!

This traffic signal box is a blast from the past!

A traffic signal cabinet located in front of the Pho 801 restaurant at South 3rd Street and Williams Avenue South has been wrapped with historic photos of existing and past buildings at the intersection.

The photos are from the collection of the Renton History Museum, and are form the 1910s, 1940s, and 1960s. The photographs are placed on the cabinet so that you can view the historic photo while looking at the current day site in the background. Don’t miss the historic photo located on top of the box!

The project is the second traffic signal cabinet that the City of Renton has wrapped with a special film, as part of the broader effort to beautify the downtown area. In June 2015, the City wrapped a signal box one block to the west (South 3rd Street and Burnett Avenue South) with original artwork entitled “Chroma” from Jason Vo, a 2015 graduate of Renton High School and part of the school’s Video Production and Visual Communications program.
