Downtown Renton Community Gift Card now available!

New shop local program to help local businesses in downtown Renton

RENTON, WA – The Renton Downtown Partnership (RDP) is launching a new shop local program to bring more money and attention to small businesses in the area.

The soon-to-launch Community Gift Card will be called the Downtown Renton Gift Card, which is a Mastercard gift card that will universally work at more than 80 local businesses in downtown Renton.

“The Downtown Renton Gift Card will give people the gift of choice while shopping local. They only have to buy one gift card and it will work at all these locations, rather than having to pick and choose. It’s an easy way to support local businesses, and it allows our local businesses to gain new customers,” said RDP Executive Director, Christian Switzer. “With the ongoing fluctuations in the pandemic it gives our community a convenient way to support the local economy too.”

Consumers can purchase the Downtown Renton Gift Card by visiting rentondowntown.com and clicking the gift card image on the homepage. They will see a listing of the local businesses that accept the card, plus business contact information, a map with pin locations, and an online order form.

Switzer said they are launching this program because they felt compelled to act. “Events like cash mobs or Small Business Saturday are great, but we wanted a way for residents to support our great small businesses year-round,” said Switzer. “Renton Downtown Local Gift Card helps us pull attention from the large national corporations and increase sales and foot traffic for the businesses we love in our downtown.”

The card is a great gift for family or friends for any occasion, or as employee recognition rewards that companies can give to employees (bulk orders available). “Many local employers want to do something nice for their employees, but sometimes settle on giving Amazon or Starbucks gift cards because there is nothing obvious available locally without having to pick winners and losers,” said Switzer. “Now you can support local without having to choose just one location.”

The program is scheduled to launch on May 9, 2022. The RDP is currently looking to connect with any small businesses in Renton interested in learning more. “The Renton Downtown Partnership is extremely happy to provide this shop local program to our community,” said Switzer. “We hope the community can support this wonderful initiative to support our local economy.”
