Are you looking to increase your involvement with the Renton Downtown Partnership’s efforts to revitalize downtown but aren’t sure about making a long-term commitment?

Then check out our list of subcommittees and other short-term projects below. These opportunities fall somewhere between volunteering at a single-day event and joining a standing committee.

Design Committee:
Last month this committee started collecting data as a part of a Downtown Building Inventory to record a snapshot in time of the current built environment in the downtown core. As this survey wraps up over the next month, the data collected will need to be entered into Maestro, our online Main Street database. This person or two would work remotely and receive all necessary training.
Economic Vitality:
This committee is busy and has several short-term opportunities available for volunteers including helping with:
  • Ignite! Meetings, which are open discussions with downtown Renton business owners with the goal of building a strong network and focus on various topics of interest. The next two are currently scheduled for May 17th and June 14th. Volunteers for this subcommittee would be responsible for brainstorming on additional topics and speakers, setting up/breaking down for the meetings, and attendee check-in support.
  • Grow Your Business Week 6/20-23: Volunteers would help downtown business owners set up and/or update entries for their businesses on online platforms such as Google, Yelp, etc. to make sure the information is accurate and to increase viewership and traffic to their business.
  • Data Entry in Maestro: Data on vacant properties and contact information for business owners and building owners is currently being collected and will need to be entered into our Maestro database. This can be done remotely, and training will be provided.
  • Downtown Clean-Up Days: We have scheduled quarterly clean-up days for the rest of the year (6/18, 9/10, & 11/26) and need help with organizing and supporting these events (check-in volunteers and assign areas, secure clean up equipment, gather and put out snacks from local businesses, disposal of collected garbage).
  • Downtown “Experience Local” history/food tour in August. This guide-led small-group tour would visit historic stops of interest and businesses in the downtown to sample food and drinks. Volunteers are needed for brainstorming, research possible stops and historic facts, coming up with promotional materials, working with local business owners interested in participating, and possibly conducting the tour.
  • Possibly in partnership with Renton River Days, we would like help with a “Show Your Downtown Love” Day. One idea is to have an Instagram Photo Contest and branded tote bag available during the festival. This subcommittee would help with brainstorming (and maybe executing) other ideas on how folks can show love for the downtown.
