Celebrate National Park(ing) Day with Pop Up Downtown!

The City of Renton and a growing number of partners have made National Park(ing) Day celebrations a new tradition in Downtown.

On a single day in September, cities around the globe celebrate Park(ing) Day by transforming parking spots into temporary public places for the day. These temporary parks (or “parklets”) help change how people view and use public space. They serve to stimulate activity in the Downtown, generate discussion around how public space is utilized and create an atmosphere that encourages community members of all ages to gather and take pride in the vibrancy of their neighborhood.

For the last two years, the Downtown Pop Up event included a Pop Up Urban Market featuring local vendors and artists, live music and activities hosted by The Owl Project (a community art project).

Stay tuned for the 2018 event schedule and come celebrate Renton’s unique local businesses and pop-up surprises throughout the Downtown.
